A Night Honoring Black Music, Culture, & Legacy

Hosted by A.J. Calloway, the event recognized an impressive group of artists and cultural trailblazers whose work has shaped the music industry and inspired audiences around the world. Honorees included J.E. for the Power of Soul Award, Jermaine Dupri for the Jam & Lewis Global Creative Impact Award, T.I. for Song of the Year, Anthony Hamilton for the Voice of Soul Award, Kandi Burruss for the Suzanne de Passe Trailblazer Award, Kenny Lattimore for the Chairman's Award, and legendary groups Brick, Cameo, and The S.O.S. Band, who received the Medal of Honor Award.

The celebration also featured unforgettable live performances by Kenny Lattimore, Anthony Hamilton, Young Dro, Trap Jazz, The Hamiltones, Lamont Sanders, Cruz The Dame, and the Westlake Marching Lions. Adding to the evening's vibrant atmosphere were special appearances by South African Afro-fusion artist Siphokazi, along with Lisa D and Macie.

From inspiring acceptance speeches to electrifying musical moments, the evening served as a powerful reminder of the impact Black artists continue to have on music, culture, and storytelling. More than an awards ceremony, the Black American Music Awards celebrated legacy, excellence, innovation, and the generations of talent that continue to move the culture forward.

IMARO Magazine was honored to be in attendance and to witness a night dedicated to preserving, recognizing, and celebrating the voices and visionaries who have helped define the soundtrack of our lives.
